Achieving A Factory Finish On A Bespoke Media Unit In Chigwell 

We recently completed the finishing of a bespoke media unit for a residence in Chigwell. Built-in cabinetry is a significant investment for any home, and the quality of the final paint application dictates whether the piece looks like a premium installation or a standard DIY project. Our client required a flawless, factory-grade finish that would integrate seamlessly with their living space, demanding a surface that was both aesthetically pleasing and durable enough for daily use.

To achieve a surface completely free of brush marks and roller stipple, we utilized our Graco 495 XT airless paint sprayer. This specific machine represents the forefront of spraying technology, offering exceptional pressure consistency and significantly reduced noise levels. This allowed us to work efficiently within an occupied home without causing unnecessary disturbance, delivering a fine atomisation of paint that lays down with glass-like smoothness.

Preparation was rigorous and detailed. After fully encapsulating the room to protect the surrounding furniture and flooring, we focused on surface remediation. All joints, nail holes, and minor imperfections were carefully filled and sanded flush to ensure the cabinetry appeared as one seamless piece. Once the filling was perfect, we applied a base coat of Isolac All Primer White. We selected this primer for its superior adhesion and high-hiding capabilities. Once cured, the surface was sanded again to a perfect profile before the application of the topcoat.

For the final finish, we sprayed Isolac Aqua Satin. This water-based enamel provides the durability and flow of traditional oil paints without the associated odours or yellowing over time. The result is a stunning, contemporary media unit with a soft, low-sheen lustre. By combining the precision of the Graco 495 XT with the self-levelling properties of the Isolac system, we delivered a durable, chip-resistant finish that rivals furniture manufactured in a high-end factory.
